The course helps in making the students aware about the finer sensibilities of human existence through poetry, fiction and drama. It also intends to align students on towards developing a holistic perspective on life and the world around. Through lectures and interactions, the course hopes to enable students to learn and appreciate different forms of literature as suitable modes of expressing human experience.

Prof. H S Komalesha is Associate Professor in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at IIT Kharagpur. He is the author of Issues of Identity in Indian English Fiction: A Close Reading of Canonical Indian English Novels (Oxford: Peter Lang, 2008). Together with a team of experts, he has published eneration to the Elders – English translation of Vaddaradhane, the earliest extant Kannada prose work written circa 940 AD (London & New York: Routledge, 2021) and (New Delhi: Manohar Books, 2020). Under its Makers of Modern Indian Literature series, the central Sahitya Akademi – the National cademy of Letters in India (New Delhi) has featured and published two of his monographs, Rashtrakavi Kuvempu (2014) and Anupama Niranjana (2008). He has also translated and published Sankranti (Kolkata: Sampark Publishers, 2011), an iconic modernist play written by a maverick Kannada writer, P Lankesh. Many of his research articles and translations have appeared in journals of national and international repute. He Works in the penumbral spaces of Poetry, Translation, Gender and Culture Studies.
