The goal of this 12-week course is to equip engineering students with a comprehensive understanding of design principles and elements, while simultaneously developing their practical skills in industry-standard Adobe software, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. By the end of the course, students will have a solid grasp of the design cycle and typography, and will be capable of creating a professional portfolio that showcases their capabilities. Additionally, they will gain insights into starting their own graphic design business.
Throughout the course, students will reliably demonstrate their ability to apply theoretical knowledge of design principles to practical projects, effectively utilise Adobe software for various design tasks, and navigate the entire design cycle from conceptualisation to final execution. They will also develop a keen understanding of typography and its impact on design, enhancing their ability to create visually compelling and functional designs. By the course's conclusion, students will have curated a portfolio that highlights their skills and creativity, positioning them to either enter the graphic design industry or incorporate these skills into their engineering careers.
